2012 - a year to remember.

As we move towards the end of yet another amazing year here at the Adventure Farm, we remember both the good times and the bad.

I’m happy to report that the good always outweighs the bad here at the Adventure Farm as we witness miracles every day! The children have had the most wonderful year, they’ve laughed, played, created, excelled, learned and shared. But most of all, they’ve had fun. They’ve had an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives, and for all of the right reasons.

The Free Holiday Programme was a huge success, we provided more holidays than ever before – giving 62 groups or families the opportunity to have a holiday or day away from their difficult daily lives. Our doors opened on 10th February and remained open until 2nd November when we said a sad farewell to the last group to come for a holiday. However, there was no time for tears as we had a farm to decorate for Christmas! Two weeks later on the 19th November our (jingling) doors were re-opened marking the start of the 2012 Christmas Party Programme – over four weeks of festive fun here at the Adventure Farm. And what a four weeks its been! We’ve had a life-size snow globe, real reindeer, snow (some of it real!), a dancing polar bear, pass the parcel, turkey dinners, a sweet shop and even a visit from the real Santa every single day!!

Its been a truly magical Christmas party season and we know with total conviction that every child will remember their day for ever. More positive memories to comfort them in the dark times that may lay ahead.

We remember the fun, quirky, inspirational characters we have met throughout the year. The children never fail to surprise us with their determination and drive. If there’s fun to be had, they’ll have it! Some are less outgoing than others at first and may need a little patience and gentle persuasion, but by the end of their visit they have all achieved something they never thought possible. If you inspire a child to believe in themselves they’ll bloom and grow, and where better to plant these seeds than at a Farm?!

We also look back with sadness at the loss of some dear friends, family and supporters who we have lost this year. Amongst them are some very special children who have become part of our Farm family, we’ll miss them and take comfort in knowing we made a difference in their all too short lives. We know that their families find solace in knowing that their child had fun like any other child during their time with us. On behalf of each and every child, parent and carer we’d like to say thank you for helping us to touch so many lives. Without our supporters we would simply cease to exist, we really can’t thank you enough.

So, here’s looking forward to an equally amazing 2013. Our plans for the next year are ambitious, we constantly strive to improve our facilities so we can provide the very best experience for the children coming to visit. We need to reach groups that have never heard of us as well as attract new supporters who could help. In short, we need you! Please continue to support our charity and spread the word about our work. Thank you so much for another stunning year.

Merry Christmas from us all here at the Adventure Farm, we wish you all a peaceful festive break and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
