Love Storey

Sarah & Barney

This summer’s Paralympics have captured everyone’s imagination, attracting millions of viewers worldwide and gripping the nation. The athletes have inspired and moved us all, and none more than Golden couple, and our lovely Patrons, Sarah & Barney Storey. They have scooped 6 medals between them, 4 Gold for Sarah and a Gold & Silver for Barney. Sarah’s success has resulted in her equaling the record set by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, making her one of the most decorated Paralympic athletes of all time.

We are especially proud of the sporty couple as they have been Patrons of ours for many years. Sarah first visited us in 2006 to spend some time with disabled children to inspire them to take part in sport despite their physical or learning disabilities. She was an instant hit and immediately became part of our Farm Family, showing limitless support for the children we support.

Since then Sarah and Barney have become key members of our Team, regularly visiting the children and attending many of our fantastic events. Sarah has even swapped her cycling shorts for designer clothes and high heels on several occasions as she has modeled in fashion shows at our Annual Ladies Lunch event. She is also due to model in a forthcoming Ladies Lunch and fashion show at Gusto Cheadle Hulme on 4th October, an event being organised by Andrea Quigley of Andrea Claire Fashions of Cheadle Hulme. Further details of this event can be obtained by called Julie Gray at CAFT on 01565 830 053.

Sarah and Barney have also provided unique cycling experience prizes which we have auctioned off at our Annual Ball, raising thousands of pounds for us and providing once in a lifetime holidays to countless children in desperate need.

Paul Farrington, our Chief Executive comments: “We are incredibly proud of Sarah & Barney and what they have achieved at this year’s Paralympics. We’ve always known they were amazing and hardworking athletes, but I’m not sure even we could have predicted their impressive medal haul! To come away with 5 Gold medals and 1 Silver is just stunning, they’re such an inspiration to us all, but particularly the children who we support.

Theirs is such an important message which must be conveyed to all children, that everyone can succeed and has the right to aspire, and a disability or disadvantage should never stop you achieving your dreams. An ethos we practice daily here at the Adventure Farm.

We’re so looking forward to seeing them both soon, and of course to seeing those lovely medals. We have no doubt that Sarah & Barney will use their success to benefit the lives of others.”

Sarah & Barney will be attending our Annual Grand Ball on 8th December at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa. Tickets are currently on sale for this glitzy event which last year had an array of special celebrity guests attending including Patrons Jason Manford and Noddy Holder and comedians John Bishop and Justin Moorhouse. For tickets for this event check out our Events page, or call Pippa in the fundraising office on 01565 830 053.
