Manchester challenged to smash the Access Easter Egg record!

The annual Access Self Storage Easter Egg Appeal is open for donations, with people from Manchester challenged to beat last year’s national collection, which saw 500 chocolate eggs given to eight charities across the UK.

For the past two years, the Manchester branch of this fantastic Self-Storage company has collected just over 100 chocolate eggs each year – with 50 donated in 2015 by one local family business alone, Gibbs bookshop.

“We’re donating a sizeable storage room to house as many chocolate eggs as possible, so if you’re buying Easter Eggs for friends and family, please think of the children visiting Adventure Farm Trust over Easter and how we can help to put an extra smile on their faces,” said Lee Porteus, manager of Access Self Storage Manchester. “Any chocolates, biscuits or Easter cakes you kindly drop off will be stored safely here and taken straight to the Farm before Good Friday.”

Porteus continued: “Easter is even earlier this year, but if we collect as many eggs as possible over the next few weeks, we’ll make it an even happier occasion for many who are in need of the most magic and cheer.”

One of our fundraisers, Helen Crowther, comments: “We’re absolutely delighted that Access have decided to support us again with an Easter Egg Appeal. The children are always so excited to receive chocolate treats - for many of them this will be their first time ever receiving an egg! We’re so grateful to everyone who has already donated to the Appeal and urge readers to buy an extra Easter Egg this year if they can possibly afford it. Their generosity will put a smile on the face of a child who is sadly experiencing difficulties most of us couldn’t imagine.”

Staff at Access have already begun collecting eggs and people are invited to bring donations into the Manchester store any time before March 24th.The eggs will then be delivered to us here at the Adventure Farm Trust in time for Easter.

Over the past five years since the annual Access Self Storage Easter Egg collection started, over 2,000 chocolate eggs have been donated to dozens of UK charities. In 2015, the most generous participating town giving the most chocolate eggs to the Access Self Storage Easter Egg Appeal was Cheshire with 140, followed by Manchester with 104 and Kingston in Surrey in third place with 54 chocolate eggs. Over the years, Manchester’s donations have contributed to at least 20 per cent of the 2,000 eggs collected.
