SUMMARY:Sandstone Trail
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we walk the full length of the Sandstone Trail over 2 days. This is one the best long distance walks in the UK.\nThe Trail stretches for 34 miles / 55 kilometres along Cheshire’s central Sandstone Ridge and promises superb\, unbroken\, and often elevated walking across this green and pleasant English county. Along the way you’ll enjoy ever-changing distant views\, a vast sunlit forest\, two stunning castles\, ancient churches and farmhouses\, caves\, canals\, cosy coffee houses\, and country inns. \nOur challenge will start early on Saturday in Frodsham. The first day of our adventure will see us cover 19.5 miles over dramatic wooded hills\, sandstone cliffs\, overhangs and viewpoints\, stunning panoramas\, sunlit forest paths and tracks\, southern arm of Delamere Forest\, glacial features\, panoramic views\, green lanes\, flooded quarry\, undulating farmland\, marl pits\, lovely green lane\, lost medieval road\, River Gowy\, Shropshire Union Canal\, Beeston Castle\, Peckforton Castle\, woodland tracks\, finishing at upmarket inn. \nWe will stay the night in Tattenhall Centre\, not far from where we end the day’s walk. It’s a ‘bunkhouse’ type of accommodation with few smaller / twin rooms available too. If weather allows\, we will gather around the bonfire\, and enjoy the delicious hotpot! \nSoon after breakfast on Sunday morning\, we will continue on our walk. The final 15 miles along the trail. Short uphill will open stunning views to east and west\, before continuing through old copper mine\, ancient saltway\, sandstone caves\, Iron Age hillfort\, rare lowland heath\, rolling Cheshire farmland\, flooded sand quarries\, old coach road\, Bickley Brook\, lost chapel in the fields\, ice contact slope\, pre-glacial lake bed\, before the last section on canal towpath into Whitchurch. \nThis is a truly fantastic challenge that will leave you a huge sense of achievement! \nCOSTS\n£125 to register / take part. \nINCLUDES: \n\nGuided Walk\n1 night Accommodation in Tattenhall Centre (bunkhouse style)\nDinner on first night\nBreakfast on second day\nRefreshments enroute\nVehicle support\nTransfer from finish back to the start\n\nParticipants are expected to raise minimum of £150 for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust. \nREGISTER HERE: Sandstone Trail | The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust \nContact jure@caft.co.uk with any questions you might have.
