The CAFT Channel Callenge

Join us for our first ever swim event! How many times can we swim the length of the channel (22 miles) as a collective effort over 8 hours?
When: Friday 11th July
Where: Alderford Lake
Tilstock Road
Whitchurch

Timings: Drop in any time between 8am – 4pm to swim. You can stay for the duration and swim in intervals, or you can swim in one go at any point during the day.
Distances: The distance is up to you, and it’s not a race! You may want to challenge yourself to swim as fast or as long as you can, or simply enjoy a leisurely swim – all to contribute to our total miles! Solo and relay teams (2-3 people) are welcome. For reference 2 laps of the lake is 1 mile. We will have a team member to count laps towards our final total at the end of the day!
Entry Fee: £25pp with further sponsorship welcome!
Includes: Access to the lake, showers and changing rooms, sheltered resting area, water safety, breakfast sandwich, hot drinks
Water safety: All swimmers are required to wear a towfloat. We advise wearing a wetsuit if you are not acclimatized to cold water. All swimmers will be required to sign the Alderford Waiver. For all details on water safety at Alderford, click here: Water Quality & Safety at Alderford – alderford
What to bring: Swim gear, swim cap, towfloat (we will have spare if you don’t have one), towels, warm clothing, camping chair (optional!)
Parking: Parking is available on site and is free for up to 3 hours. It is £3 for up to 4 hours, and all day £5.
