Anglesey Coastal Walk

April 22, 2027 @ 8:00 am - April 25, 2027 @ 7:00 pm

An impressive 95% of the full 200km / 125 miles of the Anglesey Coastal path passes through a designated National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), offering a striking mix of dramatic sea cliffs, rolling sand dunes, secret coves, and sweeping views of the Irish Sea and the distant peaks of Snowdonia.

We will start our Anglesey Coastal walk from Aberffraw clockwise and finish in Amlwch, covering a spectacular, highly varied 55 miles (89 kms) journey over four days, transitioning beautifully from expansive estuaries and sandy beaches to dramatic, towering sea cliffs and historic maritime ports.

Setting out from the historic sand dunes of Aberffraw, the trail initially hugs low-lying coastlines and the golden sands of Rhosneigr before turning inland to cross the Cymyran Strait onto Holy Island at Four Mile Bridge. From here, the scenery shifts dramatically into the rugged cliff-top singletracks of Trearddur Bay and the breathtaking, heather-clad slopes of Holyhead Mountain, leading you past the iconic South Stack Lighthouse and down into the bustling port town of Holyhead. Leaving the port behind, the path guides you along peaceful, secluded paths around the Alaw Estuary and across rolling coastal fields to the thatched-cottage hamlet of Church Bay. The grand finale delivers a triumphant march across Anglesey’s wild northern coastline, taking you past the rare wildlife lagoon at Cemlyn Bay, the picturesque harbor town of Cemaes, and the striking, ruined Victorian cliffside structures of the Porth Wen Brickworks, before bringing the epic 4-day challenge to a close at the historic copper-mining hub of Amlwch Port.
